Bird Boxes and Liquorice

 Love my wee bird houses!

Less happy with my Liquorice Allsorts...but I'm going to blame the cheap Tesco liquorice that I bought to draw from.

Cupcakes

Just fancied drawing some cupcakes. As usual I couldn't decide on a background colour so I did about 50 million versions. Think I might make some of these into shrinkle badges as well.

Dundee Jamboree

Well the Dundee Jamboree mini market has passed and I sold quite a few cards and badges. There was some really great artists selling their work and the level of professionalism was impressive but somewhat intimidating. I think for the next one I'm going to have to step up with my level of presentation and packaging of items. It was also very apparent that everyone had a definate, individual style which made each stall very different. I said in an earlier post that I wanted to try and get away from my four by four drawings but now I'm thinking that I should continue with this style as its something that makes my prints a bit different from everyone elses. I think a little day of drawing is in order.

Cards

So the wee Jamoree craft fair is this Saturday and I've done all I have time to do. I've made more shrinkle badges, have just finished wrapping some cards and sliced my thumb with a scalpel.

Badges

I started making a few shrinkles ice lolly badges today. I'm really pleased with how they turned out and will definately be making more.

Illustration Friday

Ok so I was horrendously stuck on what to do for this weeks theme of 'Atmosphere' and then once again I've ran out of time as I'm going back to Fife tomorrow. I thought I would recycle some old work for this and chose this image. Note to self...must try harder next week and not forgot!

Birds

I've been working on another wee digital print....birds this time.

Illustration Friday

I'm unexpectedly having to go back home tomorrow so just banged out a wee quicky drawing for Illustration Friday before I leave. This weeks topic was 'Star Gazing'.

Dundee Jamboree...again

As I said in my previous post I spent a few hours yesterday and today hand painting some frames. I did this as a present for my friend at christmas and quite a few people said they really liked them.

I might do a few more leopard print ones in different colours but I also have an idea that incorporates the clay ice lollies I've been making.

Dundee Jamboree

Yesterday we spent the afternoon having a wee craft session in order to make things for our stall at the next Dundee Jamboree (http://dundee-jamboree.blogspot.com/).

Inspired by a recent drawing, I spent my time making wee clay ice lollies which will hopefully end up as brooches.

I've been my usual indecisive self when it came to picking a colour. Along with my wee shoes drawing from the previous post, I'd like to sell these as digital prints as well as cards. I'm working on a few more drawings in my four by four digitally coloured style and I've also been busy hand painting different patterns on wooden frames (which I'll post pictures of tomorrow).

There is a blog showing our crafting in progess which can be found here: http://tbadfcommunity.blogspot.com/

Shoes

I wanted to draw some shoes because I like shoes so I drew some of my shoes.

Usually I would screen print a wee drawing like this but I'm going to have to leave it as a digital drawing/print. Think this would make a really cute repeat pattern for wrapping paper.

Illustration Friday

I've finally got round to drawing something for Illustration Friday. I can't even remember how long I've been intending to start. The theme this week was 'Caged'. I couldn't help but draw one of my four by four drawings. I love my wee four by fours and shall continue doing them until I don't want to anymore.

Exhibition Watching

I was back down in Pittenweem today as I had volunteered to watch over the open art exhibition. Despite the torrential rain it was actually quite busy and the hours passed extremely quickly.

My wee print down in the bottom right corner next to David Aitken's work.

I really liked this mixed media piece called 'Grey Wagtail' by Claire Reid

And I thought that 'Q for the Sales' by Kay Thomsom was also really interesting (click on the image for a larger, easier to see version).

Two of my classmates also had work in the exhibition; Sarah Bissell (second from the left, top image) and Rosalind Mundie (second from the right, top image).

I'm glad I managed to make it down to see the exhibition but wish I could have seen more of the festival while I was there. I will definately be submitting work again next year and would quite like to get a bit more involved with volunteering I think.

The Pittenweem Arts Festival will be on until the 15th.

Just a wee reminder that information about purchasing my prints can be found down a wee bit in the previous post.

Jude Magazine

Just a wee mention that my work has been featured on the Jude Magazine website http://www.judemagazine.com/judebank.html

Pittenweem Art Festival 2010

I have some work showing in the Pittenweem Art Festival this year. The festival opened last night and runs until the 15th with exhibitions in various locations throughout the town. Unfortunately, I couldn't make the opening but I was informed that my jar print has sold already and that there was interest in buying more of my prints. I've volunteered to watch over the exhibition on Tuesday with the lovely David Aitken, who submitted some photography work. If you're looking for something interesting to do this week, you should take a wee visit to Pittenweem. You can see my work in Pittenweem Primary School on James Street.

Online portfolio

So I've nearly got my online portfolio all up and ready....its just the prints that are holding me back. I can't quite capture the quality of my screen prints yet but should have them up soon. Here it is

Getting back into a routine

I'm still working on my online portfolio and getting the old Etsky and Folksy up and running. I've also started working on an idea for a children's book that I had during 4th year but didn't have time to do since I was busy putting things in jars. The story is taken from one of my favourite pastimes as a child....trying to catch birds in the back garden using a washing basket. Yes it sounds silly but I've played around with the idea and added a moral to the story as well as some educational facts about birds. Its going to be much better than the last book I attempted. Um....heres a bit from my illustrated diary.

Wednesday 16 June 2010

well the Degree Show has come and gone.....

but if you missed it here are a few pictures of my work. I really wish I'd taken more now. I'm in the process of sorting out an online portfolio of my work and making wee shops on Etsy and Folksy, links for which I shall but up here once they're done.

The jar collection is growing

The gelatin has worked out quite well. Not sure of how long lasting it is but I suppose we'll see. As long as it lasts the next 8 weeks, everything will be fine. Some pictures from making the 'Holiday' jar
