I'm still working on my online portfolio and getting the old Etsky and Folksy up and running. I've also started working on an idea for a children's book that I had during 4th year but didn't have time to do since I was busy putting things in jars. The story is taken from one of my favourite pastimes as a child....trying to catch birds in the back garden using a washing basket. Yes it sounds silly but I've played around with the idea and added a moral to the story as well as some educational facts about birds. Its going to be much better than the last book I attempted. Um....heres a bit from my illustrated diary.

well the Degree Show has come and gone.....
but if you missed it here are a few pictures of my work. I really wish I'd taken more now. I'm in the process of sorting out an online portfolio of my work and making wee shops on Etsy and Folksy, links for which I shall but up here once they're done.

The jar collection is growing
The gelatin has worked out quite well. Not sure of how long lasting it is but I suppose we'll see. As long as it lasts the next 8 weeks, everything will be fine. Some pictures from making the 'Holiday' jar

I like putting things in jars
So I've been putting objects in jars and setting them in resin as a way of preserving the object and the memory or story that it represents. Resin smells. Its a smell that lingers for days, makes you a bit dizzy and gives you a headache. I'm not a big fan of it so my next experiment is going to be with gelatin - its cheaper and you can eat it. I'm working on prints, books and drawings to go along with my jars.....I've still got more jars to do though....a lot more.

teeth project

Working on a little project as part of my whole fourth year personal project....well its not that little. The idea behind all my fourth year work is capturing memories and this smaller part is about peoples memories of loosing teeth. I created this main print just for something to do but then had the idea to give each tooth a story. 16 became too much so instead I cut it down to 12 as I only had 12 interesting stories to tell...the gaps have become missing teeth. Unfortunately the quality of the screen print has been completely lost in scanning.
